Ever since my diagnonsense I wanted to be a better mental health worker than the ones which were assigned to me. I wanted to be a social worker, specialising in early psychosis prevention and intervention. I was ready to enrol into University...

Now I'm not. Why you may ask? Because I suck. I cannot even get through a diploma-based assignment. I just finished a 3000+ word report on alcohol and other drugs services and drug use in Australia to find a big red x on my grade (meaning I right royally stuffed it up). No comments given- nothing. I put my heart and soul into this report and I was really proud I got through it and now... well now I just feel really low and crying. I'm embarrassed too because I mentioned in class how long, but interesting I found it. I'm just an utter failure.

I give up!

Oh @Queenie I'm sorry to hear that. The teacher should do better than a big red x. Your motivation and effort are excellent and the least you deserve is constructive comments. Do they allow you to resubmit? I'm sure that's the last thing you want to do right now, but it could be worth emailing the teacher to say that you put in a lot of effort and are disappointed with the outcome, and could they make time to tell you what they were after.

I've had disasterous results in spite of big effort too and it's like a kick in the guts. Thinking of you.

@frog is on the money with comments about your teacher! Not even a mark? You don't suck; they do!

An email is definitely in order as I see it. 3000 words is a huge undertaking so you should be proud of yourself.

Please don't allow this to stop you from following your dream. Having one so worthy is rare and precious when you suffer with a MI.

Request a debrief and explanation including specifics of what you could've done better. Practical criticism's a good way to address points of concern so next time you'll be better equipped.

A request to 're-submit' is a reasonable option. (A good idea @frog 👍) To do this, use your original and tweek it using their guidelines. Don't redo the whole thing.

If you need support doing assignments, I'm here with suggestions as I'm sure others will be too. Those of us who've been through the process know the drill.

You and I probably haven't had much to do with each other on the forums, but there's no time like the present to be more in touch.

Hi @Queenie  just letting you know I'm around if you want to talk.  I totally agree with what  @frog and @Hope4me have said.  Your teacher/lecturer should definitely give you more feedback about what was wanted and where you could improve on.  You have a really worthy goal and it'd be a shame if one poor teacher stopped you from reaching for that goal.

hey @Queenie you definently dont suck, dont let your grades define you. honetly i would be very upset at getting an F with no reasons or anything. i would be contacting them and asking why and if they cant give you a reason ring your uni/tafe and ask to speak to another teacher for a second opinion. they cannot just fail you.

Don't lose heart @Queenie.  I agree with the above to see what can be done about it as it doesn't sound right. Or find out what changes you can use for the next thing.

@Queenie that is a very admirable goal to have and i am sure you can do it. you dont suck at all. as for the teacher if you request feedback they really are supposed to give it too you but sometimes you have to ask which still sucks but some teachers are just lazy. dont give up yet but if you do need a break then take it. good luck with everything.

I must be invisible my own wife forgot my birthday this weekend. Doesn’t matter I guess because I don’t matter. They all have been thoroughly enjoying themselves and simply forgot. Because it’s not pay week either looks like I’m having nothing. I even said to friends who didn’t forget (Facebook chums) that I was raising money for Sane instead of presents. Only one friend replied and participated. It feels so lonely when you make a big deal about others special days and it’s just not reciprocated. Oh well.... here’s to the next forty years!
