Re: Diabetes and mental health

Wow we're all doing DASH @Dimity! I used to wince at the lack of diabetic options. I ordered some peach DASH. I got mine from Amazon. It will get me through summer.

I used to just buy carbonated water in years gone by, add 1/2 cup coconut water and lime juice and sprinkle with pomegranate arils

Saw DASH on Amazon today and thought it was a great business model. Good for you good for the environment

Re: Diabetes and mental health

I got mine at Woolies @Former-Member . I mistrust Amazon these days. Decades ago I used them for books

Re: Diabetes and mental health

Hello @Dimity , @Alittleorange , @Judi9877 , @Healandlove , @Jacques , @tyme , @Till23

My mind is overwhelmed by the information I received today by the diabetes nurses

The one thing I have found is that no one gives you suggestions to have at meals time

Feels like you are on your own

I have a sensor on my arm for the next 2 weeks to track my reading

Re: Diabetes and mental health

Do you mean when to have your meals @Shaz51 ?

Re: Diabetes and mental health

What to have and how much to eat at mealtimes @tyme

Re: Diabetes and mental health

@Shaz51 @tyme I'm a bit surprised . My dietician did suggest food groups, with examples, and walked me through serving sizes. She akso gave me lists of food and brandnames to look for at the supermarket. I've seen a program advertised on Facebook called Defeat Diabetes that offers eating plans, recipes and general education but it might cost big $$$.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

hi @Shaz51 yes sometimes too much information can be just as bad as too little. mum has found eating 1 piece of whole meal bread for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and a roast of a night keeps her sugar levels low. the monitor you have is it the FreeStyle Libre 2? if so mum had to use one a few months ago. they are really good monitors, but very expensive.

i will try to find the information they gave mum for meal ideas tomorrow.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

@Shaz51 mum is a member of this web site, they have great resources.

Re: Diabetes and mental health

Thanks @Jacques , @Dimity. @tyme 😊

Re: Diabetes and mental health

I'm sorry to hear that @Shaz51 usually Diabetes Educators are good at suggesting resources for finding meal suggestions.

https://www.diabetesaustralia.com.au/recipes/

has some recipe suggestions.

I'm not 100% sure if that's what you meant. I seem to be misunderstanding many things lately.

Hopefully that link will be in some way helpful at least.
