Being in a relationship with ourselves is the best thing that we can do to take care of our mental health. For this reason, it is essential to talk to ourselves in the most compassionate way possible. Most of us speak or think negatively of ourselves. That is why stopping negative self-talk is crucial: it directly impacts mental health, self-esteem, and overall well-being. Constant self-criticism can lead to increased stress, anxiety, and even depression, making it harder to achieve personal and professional goals. Negative thoughts create a distorted self-image, reinforcing feelings of failure or inadequacy, which can hold us back from taking risks or pursuing opportunities. We can build confidence, resilience, and a healthier mindset by replacing negative self-talk with positive affirmations and self-compassion. Changing how we talk to ourselves fosters motivation, enhances emotional well-being, and ultimately leads to a more fulfilling and successful life.

@heera72 Yes, negative self talk is so destructive. For me it intrudes in my thoughts constantly lately. Theres absolutely no room for positives. Recently i posted about eye contact with ourselves...hope it wasnt in a thread that you were contributing to. Sorry if im repeating myself.
Stand in front of a mirror, open your eyes (haha), and look in your eyes and have a stern but kind conversation questioning yourself about why you are forming and letting the negative thoughts rule you. You might realise how absurd it is that you do this to yourself and it has to stop. Give yourself a hug, then smile, pull a face, laugh hopefully, and get on with your day. Repeat often if necessary. I find its actually something to look fwd to sometimes..its kind of a reset. Cheers Dizzy
