Quitting alcohol while partner keeps drinking

It's hard enough going cold turkey from alcohol without your partner sitting in front of you drinking. I don't want to be selfish but being around it while I'm struggling sucks!!!!

Re: Quitting alcohol while partner keeps drinking

all i can say is it takes a lot of commitment and support to add any major change to our lives like stopping alcohol or drugs.

you sound committed to do cold turkey hopefully you have awareness of serious shock to your system during alcohol withdrawls if heavy drinker .

that is a form of support i have not heard bear much fruit in any group therapy or 12 steps and in personal experiences.

it is definetly something you should talk about before it could very likely fester into something uglier.

if it was myself id try come to at least a few weeks not drinking in front of me & thats fair maybe by that time there view will be different anyway if not another chat.

its only going to cause resentment, i should say if you were a daily drinker it will anyway.

still we are all different and you may be able to push through unsupported at home from your posts your addictive mind is fueling your emotional one and your wise mind might be getting tired.   ( good on you having strength to post by the way)

there are non judgremental  lines to call 24/7 where you can remain anonymous if like and properly educated councilors will be able to help you understand things. i prefer ADIS as i have used them and turning point just end up sending you to them anyway

its national only number changes between states pretty sure @MG2879

Thanks for your input it's much appreciated. I'd rather get it off my mind here than have an argument at the moment. I just don't have the energy, an the little energy I do have I need to push through this.
