Re: Life can be a Pain

@Shaz51 she had major surgery when she was about 2. OMG it broke my heart. But there was no option as it was too risky to get infection after infection. The surgery was only 80 per cent successful and we just had to wait and see. She got the all clear from her lovely urologist when she was about 8. She had issues wetting herself when she was first at school which was awful. But now she is all good. Her surgeon said she should be ok thank goodness. She's now 19. BUT she also had hip dysplasia as a baby. Had another surgery but it has now come about that she has arthritis in her hip so needs a damn hip replacement. She's booked in but just waiting for the call from the hospital. She's such a trooper. She's the baby and I am very guilty of spoiling her and treating her like the baby of the family lol. She's the last one at home so the others don't know haha. Thank you for asking. It all sounds a lot when I write it down but she's really good about it all.

❤️

Re: Life can be a Pain

I can imagine it would be hard sometimes @Shaz51, particularly with only one kidney - I would think that kidney would have to work twice as hard. I remember a girl at school was born with three kidneys. The human body is really amazing - yes, kidneys definitely have an important role.

Jumping off now Shaz51 - hope the rest of your evening is a good one.

Re: Life can be a Pain

love to have updates please @hanami xoxo

Re: Life can be a Pain

Don't worry about the mess @Owlunar - it will get cleaned up eventually - just take care of yourself first Mumma Bear 🐻

@Appleblossom Not opposed to home schooling - but if kids are not meeting other kids and getting those essential socialising skills in as well then it becomes more problematic.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @Zoe7

I managed to clear up the mess yesterday - today my shoulder was reacting and I have another one - just normal chores not attended to.

But - but-but-but - I have organised domestic help where I only pay for what I get - and it is Government Subsidized - I had a telehealth appointment for a care plan this morning before I went to the clinic to have my arm dressed - the nurse there helped me sort it out and I had a number to ring and they gave me more information. There is always something going on - I regard this as being challenged - it was pretty overwhelming.

I had a chat with the nurse about my daughter - because she asked me if I had one and could she help? No - she can't? We briefly discussed her health issues and it could be that her attitude is coming from her thyroid issues. I guess it doesn't really matter in the long run - I just feel as if I need a rest from her constant issues - I mean - it is none of my business how she feels about me - it would be polite if she kept it to herself - my door is always open - my feelings are bruised though.

@Appleblossom

I'm sorry to hear about your little grandson Apple - and the really different background he is living in - and without toys and having home schooling - it sounds a bit deprived. Kids need other kids - my mother was scared of everything I think - my brother and I were not allowed to play with other children when we were small - and it must have been painful for her to let us go to kindergarten - but she did. Early childhood development wasn't a thing after WW2 - mothers needed to work a few hours - or more than a few then - so kinder was my special thing - and it was 3 hours 5 days a week for 2 years - as I remember.

Actually - I told my kids that the State provided excellent childcare facilities and they were going and could avail themselves of an education while they were there. I was thrilled to have time to avail myself of an education by then

I might write more - atm my left arm is awkward - big bandage - it isn't too bad actually and I had an anti-tetanus shot today - all good

@Shaz51 @hanami @FloatingFeather @hanami

I have more posts to catch up on - let's see how things go this evening

Re: Life can be a Pain

Sorry about shoulder @Owlunar

Glad you are finally going to get some home help.

How are you coping with the cold?  I did a deep dive in my closet to fish out my ugg boots for the winter, and my nanna blanket is back on the couch.  Letting it be a fixture during winter months, just put it away when things get warmer.

Yep it is tricky with those 'inlaws'; a very mixed bag of pluses and minuses. I have edited some posts, as I do not want them to be identifiable, in case she comes on the forum, she got DSP for mental health issues.  She does not like the internet tho.  We have some shared values and I have empathy for her, all I can do is work with those and be as creative with any snobberies, as possible.  I know the little boy and I could have had a wow of a time in the last 3 years, and I think that is actually what she fears (loss of her control over him),  Both son and I have music training for early childhood.  Son has a little, I have a heap and oodles of experience! Grandson has been robbed.  My son may have avoided his whole justice debacles, if he had been given reasonable access from the beginning. One of his nurses said that to me during his worst incarceration. So working on stigma and various prejudices.  Not internalising them, tho it was what I tended to do when younger.  Mainly using humour and a no-nonsense, its my turn to take the mickey out of things ... approach.  Mostly being calm and this year scheduled a pretty full and healthy life for myself, between, physical exercise, gardening greenie groups, music involvement and social justice especially for mental health...  my cup runneth over.

@Zoe7 Same here. I am not opposed to homeschooling and had to step up due to son's school refusal and difficulties.  Met some wonderful families in all the different systems ... state, private, etc etc ... but that does not mean people do not seriously fall through the cracks.... that is the big theme of my family... so plenty of work to do ...

Hope you are all as well as possible ... @Shaz51 @FloatingFeather @hanami @outlander
